Privacy Policy
Last updated 9 July 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what information PaperGenre collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using PaperGenre you agree to the practices described here.
1. Who we are
“PaperGenre”, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to the PaperGenre service, available at papergenre.com. PaperGenre is an independent educational platform for Cambridge past-paper practice. If you have any questions about this policy or your data, contact us at papergenre@gmail.com.
2. Information we collect
We collect the following categories of information:
- Account information. When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from your Google account. We do not receive or store your Google password.
- Content you create. The papers and worksheets you build (the questions you select), classes you create, students you add to a class, assignments you set, and attempts submitted against them.
- Usage information. Basic analytics about how the site is used — such as pages visited and features used — and, where AI features are enabled, counts of your usage.
- Technical information. Standard information your browser sends, such as device and browser type and an IP address, collected by our hosting and analytics providers, together with essential cookies that keep you signed in.
We do not collect payment card details ourselves. Paid plans are not yet available; when they launch, payments will be handled by a third-party payment provider and card data will not be stored by us.
3. How we use your information
- To provide and operate the service and keep you signed in;
- To save the papers you build and power teacher/student features such as classes, assignments, and marking;
- To understand and improve how PaperGenre is used;
- To keep the platform secure and prevent abuse; and
- To comply with our legal obligations.
4. Cookies
We use a small number of essential cookies to keep you logged in and to remember preferences such as your light/dark theme. We also use privacy-friendly product analytics. We do not use advertising cookies and we do not sell your data.
5. Who we share information with
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share it only with the service providers that help us run PaperGenre, and only as needed to provide the service:
- Google — sign-in / authentication.
- Supabase — our database and authentication backend, where your account and content are stored.
- Cloudflare R2 — storage and delivery of past-paper PDF files (these files are not personal data).
- Vercel — hosting and privacy-friendly analytics.
We may also disclose information if required by law, to enforce our terms, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of PaperGenre and its users.
6. AI features
Our “Genie” AI helper is currently a preview that uses sample content only — it does not send your work to any AI provider. When live AI features are introduced, questions or answers you submit to them may be processed by a third-party AI provider in order to generate feedback. We will update this policy and tell you before that happens.
7. Data storage and security
Your account and content are stored with our database provider (Supabase). Information is encrypted in transit, and access is restricted through authentication and row-level security so that, for example, students can only see what they are entitled to. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. You can ask us to delete your account and associated personal data at any time (see “Your rights” below); some information may be retained where we are required to keep it by law.
9. Your rights
You may ask us to:
- access the personal information we hold about you;
- correct information that is inaccurate;
- delete your account and associated personal data; and
- provide a copy of your data.
To exercise any of these, email papergenre@gmail.com. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.
10. Children and students
PaperGenre is an educational tool used by students, some of whom may be minors. If you are under 18, you should use PaperGenre only with the involvement of a parent, guardian, teacher, or school. Where a teacher adds students to a class, the teacher and their school are responsible for having an appropriate basis to do so and for informing those students. If you believe a child has provided us personal information without appropriate consent, contact us and we will delete it.
11. International transfers
Our service providers may store and process information on servers located outside your country. Where information is transferred internationally, we rely on those providers’ safeguards to protect it.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you.
13. Contact us
Questions or requests about this policy or your personal data can be sent to papergenre@gmail.com. This policy is governed by the laws of Pakistan.
